Anyways, I got hooked. \u00a0My “cd’s Griffin Slayer” was doing respectable damage and I felt unstoppable. \u00a0Then I got to another boss floor, and faced Satan!<\/p>\n

He would torch the entire room, summon Vampire Bats and his melee attack would knock my Crusader out of melee range. \u00a0However, Satan couldn’t do enough damage to really threaten me, and I had my Heal spell to fall back on. \u00a0I also had Health potions as another back up. \u00a0The Vampire Bats Satan spawned would drop Health potions. \u00a0In fact, I came into the fight with only 4, but the screenshots reflect those picked up from the bats.<\/p>\n The problem though is that I couldn’t do enough damage to negate his health regeneration each round. \u00a0Even when I landed a critical for 90 damage, Satan would heal to full after that! \u00a0This went on for a while and I felt like I hit a stalemate. \u00a0My weapon passive even triggered once or twice during the fight. \u00a0This happened once in “FTL” as well against its boss \ud83d\ude1b \u00a0There must have been some trick to defeating Satan, so I turned to the internet for answers.<\/p>\n Apparently, in order to win, you have to fail. \u00a0You have to die in order to “beat” Satan. \u00a0It still doesn’t make sense to me. \u00a0After dungeon crawling and building up my character, I want to see him unleash death and uber destruction on the denizens of hell! \u00a0Or at least eek out a close win. \u00a0Or get owned by Satan and prove to me that my character was not yet worthy of the challenge. \u00a0Instead I was locked in a staring contest with the final boss and expected to sit idle and die.<\/p>\n To be fair, though unconfirmed, Satan has a hidden set of health that you are to deplete before you “die” in order to defeat him. \u00a0Other players actually do die trying as they pile on as much damage as they can. \u00a0My Crusader on the other hand, actually had to stop playing and skip turns in order to die. \u00a0I think unequipping his armor and shield would have sped up the process, but that would be counterintuitive to how you’re suppose to play the game.<\/p>\n Anyways, believing that he had some hidden pool of health, I kept fighting and fighting, probably piling on thousands of damage before I quit, and died. \u00a0I watched the ending, and my final score was 27661 after 3227 turns. \u00a0However, Satan was not on my list of trophies, but 327 Vampire Bats were (Satan summons 2 every 4th round or so). \u00a0My only trophy and proof of Satan’s defeat:<\/p>\n![\"100rogues-crus01\"](\"http:\/\/www.10-hp.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/100rogues-crus01.jpg\")
